How to customise? Angelus products are known to be the best when it comes to customisable products in terms of paints, dyes, cleaners etc. Here is a basic list of what you will need in order to make your own custom trainer.
- A pair of trainers
- Leather paint (Angelus £4 per colour)
- Acetone or nail polish remover containing acetone.
- Masking tape.
- Cotton balls/pads.
- Paintbrushes in a range of sizes.
- A hairdryer or heat gun.
- Crep protect spray or similar product.
Step 1- Choose your silhouette and remove laces.
Step- 2- Apply masking tape to the areas that you do not wish to paint.
Step 3- Prep your shoe by applying acetone to cotton and gently rubbing the areas you intend to paint. Just a light rub over will be fine as it takes off the factory finish.
Step 4- Apply a thin, even layer of paint then use a hair dryer or a heat gun (1-4 seconds) to speed up the drying process. Then repeat until area is complete.
Step 5- Once you have completed the painting process and your trainers are dry. Remove any tape that may still be on the shoe, add the laces, spray 2 to 3 layers using some protective finisher (Crep Protect or similar).
Finally, you’re ready to stand out this summer!
