A look in to the highly-anticipated release of the Air Deschutz sandal and where else this trend can be found
Tomorrow, Thursday 14th May 2020, Nike ACG are set to re-release its popular style of an all-terrain sandal in a variety of colours, named the Air Deschutz. With the sandal making a comeback from 1992, the new trend of military-style sandals are going to be a massive hit this summer, with these products set to be picked up by “hypebeasts” and “fashionistas” alike. The Air Deschutz is set to provide a strong sense of physical support to users, with the sandal being the perfect choice when going on a hike, or if it’s something just to wear around the house. No matter what the use is for, the Air Deschutz is set to come in five different colour-ways, from fluorescent yellow to all black; there’s a style for everyone.
Other brands, such as The North Face, Timberland, Tommy Hilfiger and now more recently, Prada, have all jumped on the trend of the “technical” sandal, usually featuring a supportive design which allows the user to wear the product in whatever environment they wish to. Some brands are also making a name for themselves through the style, such as Teva, who have recently become one of the top names within the sandal industry due to the increase in popularity in 2020. Customers within the fashion-footwear industry over the past couple of years have been demanding comfier items to wear on their feet in the summer, and this is why brands such as Birkenstocks and Ecco have been so popular recently.
Fast-fashion retailers, such as Primark, H&M and River Island have also found that the technical sandal is going to be one of the biggest trends this summer as they have created their own version of the sandals themselves. This is clearly inspired by the bigger brands who found this trend first, but for a much smaller fraction of the price in which other brands are asking for. Nike, and their subsidiary brand ACG, have decided to invest in to this trend, and their investment is likely going to do them extremely well as they fight other top competition within the industry.
Nike ACG was first founded in 1989 and its products were a massive hit in the 90’s, with the brand producing innovate sports clothing and gear for all climates. An acronym for “All Conditions Gear”, their products had a bit more of a humour side within their design style, through the use of vivid colours and crazy graphics. Making a comeback in 2019, the sub-brand has catapulted right to the top of the streetwear industry, with their vintage style attracting today’s youth. Nike ACG are a brand to look out for this summer, especially as they are set to release their summer 2020 apparel tomorrow also.
Nike ACG Deschutz can be found on the official Nike store, as well as their 2020 summer apparel.
