The Small Female-Owned Brand Making It Big: POSTER GIRL

You know THAT Poster girl dress you’ve seen on Instagram so much this week? Ever wondered where it came from, who designed it, and why it’s that IT girl dress at the moment along with others which follow the same design?

If you’ve not been living under a rock for the past few months, you would’ve seen that same half mesh, paneled dress or jumpsuit on just about every insta girl at the moment. That dress is the ‘Miranda’ dress from London based fashion brand Poster Girl which is owned by Francesca Capper and Natasha Somerville who were inspired by the style of Lil Kim and the show The Simple Life.

Their small brand captured our attention when Rowan Blanchard wore their ‘Charlotte Dress’ in summer 2020, which subsequently set the stage for the impact of the ‘Miranda Dress the following summer in 2021, featuring on huge influencers Instagrams, such as Kylie Jenner and Dua Lipa, the dress is not only celebrity exclusive; retailing for £90 on sites such as Flannels and Revolve its pretty simple accessible. The dress is a one size fits all and comes in a range of colours and styles; including yellows, oranges, purples and pinks. The other popular pieces from the brand include the Jetta Jumpsuit seen below.

What’s next for the brand? The brand has broadened its stock list to major online fashion retailers Flannels and Ssense, which is huge for a small female owned brand from the UK. They also made plans for an international expansion and a new launch which happened in July this year. We look forward to seeing what’s next from this brand.
