What’s trending? Iconic runway moments in honour of fashion month

In honour of fashion month approaching and it taking the new strategy of part physical and part digital runway shows. I figured we’d take a look back at what we’ve had in previous years. And of course where else to start but with the late but never less great…

Chanel spring 2019 ready to wear

This one really brought tears and was a proud moment for all those involved in organising and modelling in the show. This collection is known as Karl Lagerfeld’s last Chanel collection that he produced before passing in February 2019 only a month before this was showcased. A beautiful collection of almost all monochrome clothing that was the epitome of Chanel’s brand and captured it perfectly.

Next we have…

Viktor & Rolf couture 2019

On a much lighter note this is one of the most meme-able runway shows to date. When these dresses stepped into the limelight from Viktor and Rolf in September 2018 the internet was obsessed and still is. The line of couture dresses have a lot of relatable things written across then and everyone who saw them found at least one dress they wanted to own. They’ll continue to float around as dresses appropriate for everyone who is feeling a little passive aggressive and antisocial.

Following this we have an older one…

Alexander McQueen spring/summer 1998

Couldn’t involve an iconic runway moments without having queen of our heart, Kate Moss, somewhere and this show certainly show cases a beautiful look. They made it rain for this show. Definitely a risk but the effect worked too well for it to be missed out and having Kate Moss wear a sheer dress in this moment was perfect.

Another moment to admire…

Moschino spring 2019

Not only is Gigi Hadid one of the most admirable models of fashion month of the past few years. But with her baby due this fashion, we had to look back at her iconic Moschino bride runway walk from Spring 2019. As usual with Moschino it was something different but visually a form of live art. Of course the Moschino twist on it, made it desirable as a wedding scene.

One we won’t be forgetting…

Versace spring 2000

Famous actually for being worn by J Lo. This dress was not only ground breaking and the most wanted dress of it’s time. But it’s this dress that is the reason we have Google images due to so many people searching for it online and wanting to search by image. This look will never not be admired for it’s elegant and sexy appeal.

A show that wins for cuteness…

Chanel autumn/winter 1991

Definitely the most adorable moment that we can all admire. Yasmin Le Bon walked the runway for Chanel with her 20 month old daughter, Amber and it was a moment that melted hearts. Another collection by Karl Lagerfeld with hopes of gaining a more “youthful” side to Chanel, it has been duped as the ‘hip-hop’ collection.

A moment that only a queen could recover from…

Vivienne Westwood autumn/winter 1993

As if we could forget the fall of 93. Naomi Campbell took a fall while walking for Vivienne Westwood but her recovery was beautiful and just managed to smile through the whole time. Photographers definitely crowded to capture the moment but it was all light-hearted fun. And we’re sure it’s still something she looks back on and laughs about.

Another more recent one you might recognise…

Fredrik Tjærandsen 2019 BFA fashion

Without a doubt one of the more unique runway looks. While not from fashion week, the videos of these dresses went viral online and couldn’t be left out from this list. Made by a newly graduated university student, he really made the runway show fun and different to any other. It really was something that caught attention in the best way and it was pretty extraordinary to watch.

One that took inspiration from art…

Dolce & Gabbana couture fall 2019

Taken straight out of art, this entire show was stunning. Multiple moments from it that we all just need a moment to comprehend how beautiful these dresses are. These are something of fairytales and just so stunning to see. Such an underrated show and definitely deserves more credit to it.
