Ladies and gentlemen get ready to start your engines as RuPaul’s Drag Race UK is returning for a second season!

By Nicola Scovell

It’s been a whole year since the first season aired and the BBC has confirmed that another season of RuPaul’s Drag Race is arriving in early 2021. If you have not seen the first season or any seasons of the TV show, then get to know!

Below are five reasons you need to watch season one of RPDR UK:

  1. It gave us one of the best Snatch Game’s ever!

Snatch Game is one of the main challenges on the show which every fan and queen look forward to. Contestants showcase their best celebrity impersonations in a game show setting. The UK queens didn’t disappoint – from The Vivienne’s hilarious Donald Trump to Blu Hydrangea’s filthy impersonation of Mary Berry, they had us rolling with laughter.

  1. Gifted us with iconic memes

Fans had a field day with the UK season premiere and made so many memes from the show. From Baga Chipz ‘’Much Betta!’’ in episode two to Cheryl Hole being a big mood!

  1. It gave us a top ten hit!

In episode five, Girl Group Battle, the queens were split into teams and had to write their own verses for the song ‘Break Up (Bye Bye)’. Baga Chipz, Divina de Campo and Blu Hydrangea – aka ‘The Frock Destroyers’ scored a top ten hit in the UK charts with their version and it’s very clear why when you listen to it.

  1. It has heartfelt moments

Although Drag Race is a fun show, the queens do talk about emotional subjects from legalisation of same sex marriage, their own sexuality and identity and relationships with family members.

       5. It showcases the best of British drag

British drag is rough around the edges, camp and stunning. It has variety, showing the polished looks of The Vivienne, Instagram look queen Blu Hydrangea and Crystal who has avant-garde looks.
