Conquering Confidence This Valentines Day

It’s coming up to that time of year where all of our single introverts internally sigh. Valentines day. Do you secretly have a grudge against yourself for not being able to talk to the one you want to on this romantic day? Well it’s time to let go, as you read our top tips for being confident this Valentines day.

Visualise yourself as what you want to be

Visualization is when you see an image of yourself that you are proud of. When we struggle with low self-confidence, we have a low perception of ourselves that is often inaccurate. If you practice visualizing a fantastic version of yourself, you’ll start to see yourself in a different light that will boost your confidence and bring you closer to reaching your goals.

Do one thing that scares you everyday

The best way to stop being scared of something, is to face it head on. By doing one thing you’re scared of everyday you’re getting out of your comfort zone which will gradually make you find it easier to do things that you once never thought you could. For example, going to a roof top if you’re scared of heights etc.

Affirm yourself

“Affirmations are a powerful tool to deliberately install desired beliefs about yourself.” – Nikki Carnevale

The trick to create change is to change how we view ourselves. Affirmations are positive and uplifting statements we say to ourselves that you start to believe the more you say it to yourself. We tend to believe whatever we constantly tell ourselves, therefore if it’s something positive your self confidence will start to rise and you’ll begin to see yourself in a better light.

Help someone else

Helping someone else often tends to help us forget about our own problems and focus on bettering the other person. Once you start seeing improvement in the person you’re helping it should unconsciously make you feel good about yourself for being able to help them. Why not volunteer to mentor, assist or teach and watch your self confidence grow automatically in the process.

Believe in yourself

At the end of the day, the only person who has your back more than anyone else is yourself. Without taking risks in life you’ll get nowhere, so this Valentines take a leap and tell that person you like them or tell the person you’re seeing you want to be official. If you put in the effort and it isn’t given back then it obviously wasn’t meant to be, but you might be pleasantly surprised this year.
