The key is product placement and the use of cream blush. Renowned makeup artists, Emma Chen and Wayne Goss have been using these techniques for years and constantly show this on their models. Influencers such as Jamie Genevieve and Amanda Khamkaew demonstrate beautifully rouge- sculpted cheeks in their recent insta pics:

At first blush…

Notice how the colour perfectly defines each cheek no matter the shape of face or skin tone, each one has a way of elevating the face and imitating that model-like bone structure that everyone’s looking for right now! It’s simple to achieve and can be done with any cream blush and a small cheek- sized brush. Alternatively, use a finger to dab onto the skin, using the skin’s warmth to melt it into the skin.

Skin story.

The reason a cream blush is favourable over a powder is due to its natural looking element once blended into the cheeks rather than sitting on top of the skin. However, depending on your skin type, a powder blush might just be a better option. If you find you get excessively oily through out the day and constantly having to powder your face, then opt for a powder blusher. This is because the natural oils your skin produces will help to melt a powder into the skin just as a cream blush would do.

Colour me rouged!

No matter your budget, drugstore and high-end have great options to choose from. Most come in a range of colours to flatter any skin tone and some come in universal shades that will match to the different pigmentations within the skin’s undertones. Using the idea of colour theory, you can also choose a colour that will bring out certain features of your face, for example if you had blue eyes, a gorgeous peachy orange would compliment them and make them pop! Most cream products are multi use too, if you decide to go for a cohesive look, you can use your product on the eyes, lips and cheeks. (Just make sure to check that the product is safe for other areas of the face, especially around the eyes.)
