How I Practice Self-Care Sundays

Preparing yourself for the week ahead is vital, whether that’s planning your meals for the week or making sure you’ve caught up on your emails. 

My favourite way to prepare is by having a self-care Sunday, and here are my top steps for the ultimate self-care regime. 

1. No morning alarm. 

Sundays are resetting, relaxing, and recharging so that means no morning alarm. I allow my body to have the rest it needs and deserves!

2. Grabbing my favourite drink 

On a Sunday, Starbucks calls my name… an iced caramel macchiato? Yes please! Small gestures like this can really help to make your day positive and remind you that its okay to a have a treat. 

3. An afternoon walk 

Nothing beats a bit of fresh air, especially with the warmer days now here! Although some days you want to stay in and not get out, even just a quick walk has it many benefits including improved sleep, reduced stress, and increased energy levels. Find a local route that has scenic views to offer, you’ll enjoy it and your body will thank you for it. 

4. Skincare and hair care

What could top the feeling of freshly washed hair, shaven legs and clean bedding? Simply nothing! I love having a shower and indulging in all my favourite products, including Olaplex No3, Sunday Rain polishing body scrub and Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream. Followed by a face mask. I’ve been loving the Caudalie instant detox mask (the viral TikTok one). 

5. Tv 

After a nice pamper and getting into fresh pjs, it’s time to watch some tv. Like most of the population, I’ve been religiously tuning in to ITV2 at 9pm for Love Island. 

6. Journaling 

Finally, before bed I like to journal. This allows me to reflect upon my day, track my emotions and what I’m grateful for. The benefits of journaling include reduced stress, boosted well-being, encouraging positive thoughts and providing time for yourself away from your phone and other distractions. My favourite is the Papier Wellness Journal.

7. An early night 

Having an early night and making sure I get a good night’s sleep always helps to prepare me for the week ahead. I make sure that my phone is on ‘do not disturb’ so that I am not tempted by it.
