How to easily create and sustain a blog

With world “falling apart” and the whole COVID-19 situation, all of us can really pay attention to ourselves and the things that we love, like our family and interests. If you love writing and you are a communicative, creative person, now it is the perfect time to start your own blog. However, the whole process may sound confusing, if you have never tried it, but we promise you that after you read this article, you will be ready to start creating immediately.

In order to create a successful blog, the first thing you should do is to decide what is it gonna be about. It would be best to be of your own interest, because when you “blog” about things that you like, you present them in a way that can grab your audience’s interest and keep it for longer. It will be good for you as well, because you won’t struggle to come up with ideas later on and everything will come from your heart and thoughts.

After you find out what content will bring you happiness and satisfaction, you need to dig up more information about it and be constantly prepared. Let’s say you have chosen to create a fashion blog. That means that you have to keep yourself updated about what’s going on in the fashion industry, current trends and brands that are on top of their game, so you can keep the interest of your audience and prove them that you are a trustworthy source. Don’t forget to be innovative as well, because you don’t want to be a copycat and make people read stuff that they have probably already seen. Try to find a way to make your content accessible and interesting for your readers.

You have already stocked yourself with enough information about the concept of your blog, so it is now time to actually create it. Most people prefer to use website builder platforms, such as Wix, WordPress, Squarespace, Shopify, etc. They offer lots of templates for you to use and guide you through the process, so all you have to do is insert your text and images, whenever you have a new post prepared and voila – it is up for your audience to see. Keep in mind that all of these platforms are paid and offer either monthly or yearly subscriptions.

Others use only social media, such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, to share their thoughts and basically turn their page into a blog. It is easy to use and most importantly – free of taxes and commitment. You can also bring your own style into it and create a feed that you like. There are no templates or boundaries. It is a great option, because you can be a little more personal and let the audience to really get a piece of who you are.

Once you have your blog set up, you start uploading content and try to popularize it. Don’t forget that you have to post regularly, if you want to attract more people and gain followers faster. It would be best, if you make yourself a certain schedule as well. For an example, you can post once a week, every Monday at 10am and keep up with that timetable, so your audience are aware and always expecting your content. Share your posts on social media or if you are willing to spend some money on it, you can use adds and sponsored posts. Most platforms offer this option and it is not that pricey as well.

When you already have some audience and content on your blog, it is time to start connecting with other bloggers whose popularity is currently increasing. Text them, meet them in person, make some kind if collaborations, promote their page and vice versa. That will benefit you both, because it will give you the chance to gain more followers and people interested in the same things that you like. It is also a great way to create new friendships and use the wisdom of bloggers, that have already been where you are now.

Don’t forget to keep you content interesting and accessible, but most importantly – to have fun. Be you and let your audience really connect with you. That’s the real formula of success. Once you take yourself too seriously and take your audience for granted, you will undoubtedly fail.
