With the Black Lives Matter movement rising at the beginning of June, there has been a few brands joining and doing their bit! Having a search on Twitter shows what brands have done. Here’s a few I found as well as on my Instagram of the brands doing their bit:
-BTS donated $1 million to BLM as well as their fanbase (WOW!)
-Amazon donated $10 million
-Glossier donated $500,000 to BLM as well as $500,000 supporting Emily Weiss
-Pokemon donated $200,000
-Lego donated $4 million as well as taking out any Police themed sets from their brand!
-Supreme donated $500,000
-Levi’s donated $200,00
-FashionNova donated $1 million
What other brands are doing their bit?
I personally follow a lot of small brands. I follow jewellers, crocheters, clothing makers etc. A few brands have done things like donating 10% of their sales to other BLM themed charities. However, a theme I’ve seen is the theme of giveaways! One of the brands I follow, @made.byfrankie, has arranged a giveaway of 3 of her necklaces to any winner that donates just £5 to the Stephan Lawrence Charitable Trust!
The Stephan Lawrence Charitable Trust is a UK Charity. Named after Stephan Lawrence, who was killed at 18 (April 22nd 1993) in a unprovoked racist attack. After the initial investigation, 5 suspects were arrested but not convicted. A public inquiry into his death in 1998, lead up to the publication of the Macpherson Report. This was called ‘one of the most important moments in the modern history of criminal justice in Britain’. The Trust go to schools and broadens the minds of young people for the knowledge, skills and qualifications they need – all the way through to further education.
Not only will her audience be donating to such a worthy cause for the black community and younger generations, but there’s also an incentive towards the audience to donate. View this however you want, but with the 1,400 likes on her posts about this, the charity will still make an amazing amount of money while the audience wonder if they also win £50 worth of hand-made necklaces! Win win!

Another small brand that’s doing their bit (or should I say about 50+), is @itsrooper! The ‘Furoshiki bags meets scrunchie’ gal Natasha has created a giveaway too! …With, like, 50 other brands! Donating minimum of £2 for each ticket into the giveaway, you and 3 other winners could receive amazing gifts from (some of my personal faves) – @50mlondon, @bymegancrosby, @poppy_howell_design and @blomashop! Check out the full list on itsrooper’s fundraiser link!
100% of the donations raised (as of right now, 10/06/20, it’s at £18,000!) will go between Runnymede trust and Reclaim the block. Runnymede trust is a UK charity that challenges race inequality throughout Britain. They do this through research, network building, leading debate and policy engagement. Their aim is to build a Britain where all citizens and communities feel valued, enjoy equal opportunities, lead fulfilling lives, and share a common sense of belonging.
Finally, Reclaim the block (located in London) began in 2018 and organizes Minneapolis’ community, and city council members, to move money from the police department, to other areas of the city’s budget. They believe health, safety and resiliency exist without police of any kind. They organize around policies that strengthen community-led safety initiatives and reduce reliance on police departments – learn more about them here.
