The drinks we are all missing and how to make them at home

If you are anything like us and you’ve decided to keep social distance, stay inside and obey the rules during this difficult time, then you haven’t put proper pants on or been out in a few weeks now. Being isolated can make you feel crazy, we get it and we are sure as well, that you miss some of the drinks you used to buy on a daily basis. That’s what we are here for – to show you 3 of our favourite drinks you can easily make at home and taste just like you bought them from your beloved coffee shop or bar.

Dalgona Coffee

This type of coffee has been all over Instagram since the quarantine started! We bet that you’ve seen some of the biggest celebrities and influencers taking pictures of it and now, with this recipe, you can enjoy your own cup of this famous drink, for less than 10 minutes.

All you need is:

  • 2 tbl of instant coffee
  • 2 tbl of sugar
  • 2 tbl of boiling water
  • 1 cup of milk (hot or cold; depends on how you like your coffee)

Using a hand mixer, you whip the coffee, sugar and water together for about anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes or until it is light brown, fluffy and holds stiff peaks. When that’s done, pour some milk into a glass with some ice (if you are doing iced coffee). Scoop the whipped coffee on top, stir and enjoy!

The “Fraud shake”

This is another drink that is getting lots of attention on social media for the last couple of weeks. It is called the “Fraud shake”, because it has the green colour most of the healthy avocado smoothies have, but it tastes just like white chocolate. It is the perfect way to start your day right, but still get all the sweetness you need and the best part is, that you only need 6 simple ingredients:

  • 100g of spinach
  • 3 slices of mango
  • 1tbl peanut butter
  • 1tsp honey
  • 200ml oat milk
  • 200ml water

Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend! Of course you can add more things or remove something, but if you are looking for the iconic white chocolate taste, that’s the way to go.

Blackberry mint mojito

This cocktail is one of the best options for the hot days ahead, no matter if you are making it during the day, or during the night. It is so fresh and light, takes no more than 10 minutes to make, so make sure to give it a go next time you are catching up with your friends (online of course).

You will need:

  • 1/2 cup of blackberries
  • 8-10 fresh mint leaves
  • 1/2 c. light rum
  • juice of 2 limes
  • crushed ice
  • club soda
  • simple syrup

First muddle the blackberries, chop the mint leaves a little bit and add them to the glasses. Next add rum, lime juice and simple syrup. Pour in crushed ice, top off with soda and garnish with mint and blackberries. Cheers!

These are all the quintessential drinks to make your life a little bit easier during the quarantine. Make sure to give them a try and tag us on your social media posts (@carbononcampus).

We need each other now more than ever. Stay home, stay safe!
