A Legacy That Still Thrills

Micheal Jackson, otherwise known as the King Of Pop is blessing our screens next Spring and the world couldn’t be more thrilled.
Micheal Jackson is an American singer-songwriter most notorious for his top single Billie Jean, topping worldwide charts including the US Hot 100 where it remained on top for seven weeks. Originally Micheal was known for his part in the Jackson 5 where he sang with his brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine and Marlon. Due to Micheals mesmerizing stage presence he stood out as a spectacular young talent. The fascination the world had with Micheal only continued through his life granting him the title ‘The King of Pop’. The world was and is still obsessed. The news prompted a worldwide outpour in heartbreak for Micheals death in June of 2009. Although his legacy will certainly live on and generations will continue to share the love for the art that is Micheal Jackson’s music.
April 24th 2026 is the set date Universal and Graham King are showcasing ‘Micheal’, a Biographical drama. Jaafar Jackson, who is Micheals nephew, is set to play Micheal serving as a thoughtful tribute to his life. “Jaafar embodies my son” says Micheal’s mum Katherine and “It’s so wonderful to see him carry on the Jackson legacy of entertainers and performers”. We were hit with the Micheal trailer on November 6th and in 24 hours it racked up a total of 116.2 million views which globally makes it the most viewed trailer for any music biopic.
There were teases as to his life story being shared and depictions of him making some of his most popular songs such as Human Nature, Beat It and Thriller. As well as this there are nostalgic references to some of Micheals most iconic outfits and dance moves that he began to identify with. There have been previous compliments and appreciation for Graham King as he also produced music biopic Bohemian Rhapsody which highlighted Queen and their musical journey. The excitement is only brewing. King does state that ‘Micheal’s life was complicated’ and ‘As a film-maker, I look to humanise but not sanitise’. It is even said to address the child-sex allegations made against Micheal in 2019 in the documentary Leaving Neverland. The Micheal film was originally going to be split into two parts but the trailer that was recently released is suggestive of just one movie for release.
