Matthew Perry the American-Canadian actor, best known for playing Chandler Bing on the hit series ‘Friends’, has passed away from a drowning in his hot tub after a heart attack at the age of 54. 

He was born in Massachusetts, to his mother who was a Canadian Journalist and father an American Actor and model, they divorced while he was a young age and continued to live with his mother in Ottawa. At age 15 he decided to move to LA to follow in his fathers footsteps. Perry booked a few supporting roles for TV Shows and in Movies.

Perry was cast as a regular on the sitcom ‘Sydney’, and then started to make appearances on bigger sitcoms like ‘Home Free’ and ‘90210’. He started to get bigger and bigger and decided to audition for ‘Friends’.

Breaking through into the cast of ‘Friends’ was one of the highlights of Perry’s life and peak of his acting career. He was the youngest member of the cast, just turned 25 after the pilot aired.

Matthew Perry would bring laughter to his colleagues while he played the funny Chandler Bing, which was fitting as mirrored his personality. He played this role with Courteney Cox who played Monica Geller, David Schwimmer who played Monicas brother Ross Geller, Jennifer Aniston who played Rachel Green, Lisa Kudrow who played Phoebe Buffay and Matt LeBlanc who played Joey Tribbiani.

Friends ran for 10 years and they became a tight net family, as the show grew, so did Perry’s health issues. He struggled with drug and alcohol addiction the majority of his life, over his lifetime he said he has “detoxed more than 65 times” and spent “$9 million or something trying to get sober”.

The news of Matthew Perry’s death has broken many peoples hearts, many flooded the internet with stories and messages for Matthew, including the cast saying their goodbyes. Their moving messages can be found on Instagram but you might need a pack of tissues.
